The governors are very pleased to announce the appointment of Rachel Purnell as the new Principal of Ansford Academy. Rachel is currently Deputy Head of St. Laurence Academy, Bradford on Avon and has more than a decade of experience as a senior leader in secondary schools in the south west. Rachel will take up her post in September and will replace Shonogh Pilgrim who leaves us after 7 years to take up an exciting role with Whole Education.

Rachel said:

“I am delighted to be joining the Ansford community in September. I have already begun the handover process so that I can learn as much as possible about the school before I take up my post, enabling me to build on the strong foundations that are already established. In the short time that I have spent at the school since my appointment, I have received such a warm welcome and it is already evident that Ansford Academy is a very special place to work and learn. I will be in contact again early in the academic year and will look forward to hearing your views about the school.”

Shonogh said:

“It has been a real pleasure to be the Principal of Ansford Academy over the past seven years. I can honestly say that they have been some of the happiest and most fulfilling times in my career. I will very much miss every single member of the Ansford community but know that in Rachel the governors have found a leader who will work hard to ensure the school goes from strength to strength. Ansford will of course always have a special place in my heart and I will be forever grateful to everyone who has contributed to the schools journey under my leadership.”
