Monitoring and Evaluation
The processes of monitoring and evaluating are central to the provision of a high quality education for all students. The curriculum will be the subject of continuous review in terms of statutory requirements, the aims of the acadmy and the principles on which it is based.
The Academy’s Monitoring, Evaluation and Review Framework (SMERF) is used to maintain consistent, high standards of teaching and learning across all curriculum areas.
Faculties are reviewed every year – either with a main review (Year 1) involving the leadership team or through an interim review (Year 2) based on work conducted by the Head of Faculty with their colleagues. Documentation is based on the OFSTED framework (2003)
Self Evaluation (Team Review)
The academy regards ongoing self-evaluation as critical to the maintenance of high standards. Self-Evaluation is linked to Performance Management and Academy Improvement planning.
All evaluations must cover the basic areas of: teaching, learning, attainment, attitudes and behaviour.
Additionally team-leaders may choose a specific focus within the team’s work for evaluation.
This Curriculum Policy will be reviewed annually against statutory requirements and monitoring outcomes. Necessary changes will be incorporated into theAcademy Improvement Plan.
