Ansford Academy’s results are consistently well above the national average – and compare very well with the norm for the local area.

GCSE Results 2011: Ansford performance exceeds most schools in England

Achievements at Ansford are better than the majority of schools in England, according to a report by the Department for Education published last month.  Performance Tables published in January 2012, show we are performing significantly better than most schools in England on a range of measures, but with less funding from Government.

The report shows that on all fourteen basic threshold measurements, the school achieved higher results than the national average and in ten of them they were significantly higher.  On the ‘5 A-C GCSEs including English and Maths’ (5ACEM) indicator, the attainment was 74%, which is 17 percentage points above the national average of 57%. On the ‘5 A-C GCSEs’ indicator, attainment by pupils was 4 percentage points above the national average at 83%.

The school was also significantly above the national average on the ‘5 A-G GCSEs’ indicator, and our Capped Average Points score [the points given for each GCSE grade a student achieves] was the highest ever.

Looking at specific subjects, attainments in English, Maths and Science were above the national average and in some areas significantly better, while most other subjects were in line with national averages.

The progress that pupils make at Ansford is also strong, with six of the 12 measures showing significantly better performance than national indicators. In particular, student progress in English was in the top 4% of schools nationally.

The report also shows that Ansford received £4704 per pupil, compared to a national average of £5411; so better outcomes were achieved with 13% less funds.
